Officine Panerai maybe the most respected Italian watch-making powerhouse in the world, that was created in 1860, in Florence, by visionary man of his time, Giovani Panerai, who initiated a long heirloom skilled watchmakers, committed to creating remarkable timepieces defined by immaculate quality and unmatched mechanical mastery.

Nowadays, Officine Panerai belongs to Richemont International SA, and currently manufactures its timepieces in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, using both in-house movements as well as the beautifully decorated ETA calibers.

Recently the brand enriched its Military inspired watch line with a sophisticated new timepiece fitted with a remarkable horological complication- the tourbillon, first presented in an Officine Panerai watch, two years ago at SIHH. Nevertheless, in 2010 the Italian watchmaker presented an upgraded reinterpretation of the initial model, the outstanding Officine Panerai Lo Scienziato Radiomir Tourbillon GMT PAM 00348, a superb skeleton watch featuring the tourbillon complication.

The timepiece features a large masculine cushion-shaped case, measuring 48 mm in diameter, which was manufactured from a high-tech black ceramic, material outstanding through extreme lightness and endurance characterized by an unmistakable deep dark hue.

The watch accommodates an in-house, hand-wound mechanical, Panerai P.2005/S caliber that oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour ensuring a remarkable 6-day power reserve. The sophisticated mechanism ensures hours, minutes and small seconds’ functions but also a dual time zone function served by an additional GMT-hand. Instead of using additional 24-hour indices for the second time zone, the watch uses the central 12-hour time display coupled with a day/night indicator located at 3 o’clock. On the watch’s dark skeleton dial, the four, dark beige, Arabic numeral hour markers make a wonderful contrast, carried into the watch’s hour hands and hour indices. Moreover, the timepiece is matched with a worn-looking brown leather strap that confers the watch a nice vintage look.

Especially designed for a modern gentlemen keen on mechanical sophistication, and bold sophisticated design the remarkable Officine Panerai Lo Scienziato Radiomir Tourbillon GMT PAM 00348, is indeed a true collectable item of unmatched beauty and elegance which comes for a fair price tag of $160,000.00.
