Omega Museum Collection N 8 ‘Racend Timer’

        Created in 1848 in Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Omega is one of the most respected watch-making brands that through the years, gathered an impressive record, being the sole brand in the history of watch-making who created a NASA flight qualified for all manned space missions timepiece, being the official Olympic Timekeeper since 1932 and also the model design to bring to the famous “James Bond” character a plus of charisma.

        At Baselworld 2008, the respected watchmaker introduced another master creation, the Museum Collection N 8 ‘Racend Timer’ a very exclusivist line which pays tribute to the privileged connection between the skilled watchmaker and the exciting world of sports and its major contribution to sports timing. The design of this timepiece was inspired by the very first photo-finish camera- the Racend Timer, brought to life in 1949, a new revolutionary, piece of equipment, which facilitated extremely accurate, group arrivals time recordings at the finish line.

        The major contribution of Omega in the field of sports, the cutting edge technological innovation and the charismatic aesthetical expression are majestically intertwined in the new Museum Collection N 8 ‘Racend Timer’. At the heart of the model beats the COSC certified, high-performance Omega 3201 caliber self-winding movement, which incorporates the well known Omega ground braking technology which confers remarkable reliability and accuracy.

        The timepiece features an elegant, 18 karat pink gold case, measuring 39 mm in diameter, and a bezel that has been incorporated in the refined architecture of the timepiece with the aid of 4 invisible screws. The model features gold pushers and a crown fitted with the engraved Omega vintage logo, and a case-back featuring the Museum engraving and the limited serial number, the case construction is 30 meters watertight.

         This charismatic timepiece features a creamed opaline silver dial, fitted with 18 karat, diamond-cut central hour and minute hands meanwhile, the central small seconds and chronograph hands are blackened. The distinguished design of the dial is furthermore completed by 18 karat gold, diamond-polished facetted triangular indexes, coupled with a vintage Omega logo located beneath the appliquéd 12- Arabic numeral hour marker. The dial of this exquisite watch also features a small second’s chronograph counter located at 9 o’clock, a 30 minutes counter located at 3 o’clock, and, respectively at 6 o’clock a 12 hours counter. Highlighted in red, on the outer dial there is the pulsometer scale along with the contrasting blue tachymeter scale. This superb model comes coupled with a stylish brown alligator strap, and it was manufactured in a limited edition of only 1,949 timepieces, available for an approximate price of $12,900.00.
