Jaquet Droz Eclipse Watch

A prestigious watch-making powerhouse, created in the 18th century, Switzerland, by a visionary spirit of his time, Pierre Jaquet-Droz, Jaquet-Droz never strayed from its quest of cultivating the spirit of innovation, reform and excellence.

Among the watch-connoisseurs worldwide, the name Jaquet-Droz has always been associated with astonishing mechanical watches, genuine masterpieces of horological artistry, preferred by kings and emperors, from Europe and Japan.

Always fateful to its centenary tradition of distinction and innovation, Jaquet Droz presented at Baselworld 2010, another sophisticated timepiece, a superb interpretation of the classic calendar complication- the outstanding Jaquet Droz Eclipse watch, which features a rather surprising way of displaying the moon phase indicator.

The watch features an elegant 18-karat red gold case, measuring 43 mm in diameter, and makes a wonderful contrast against the deep black of the watch’s enameled dial, meticulously created through the centenary art of Grand Feu enameling. The elegant architecture of the case insures a good water-resistance of 30-meters, beneath the sea’s surface.

The superb black dial features ancient symbols of good luck and prosperity; the eight red gold stars surrounding the moon, also performed in red gold, imply well-being and eternity. The brand’s designers endowed the watch’s moon with a Victorian face, which is hidden gradually beneath a black pivoting round mask. Furthermore, the timepiece also features red gold alpha hour and minute’s hands, and the brand’s signature serpentine date hand as well manufactured from polished red gold, which points the date on an outer dial scale. In addition, beneath the brand’s logo, located at 12 o’clock, there is a double aperture, for the day and month.

The beautiful Jaquet Droz Eclipse watch is animated by a 28 jewels, high precision, self-winding mechanical movement, based on the highly appreciated Frederic Piguet Caliber 1150, the new Caliber JD 6553L. The movement reveals wonderful Cotes-de-Genève decoration, and it oscillates at a high frequency of 28,800 beats per hour, providing the advantage of a 68-hours power reserve.

A classy and sophisticated wristwatch, the remarkable Jaquet Droz Eclipse watch comes matched with a stylish black alligator leather strap, and will surely become a coveted collectable item, probably available for an exclusive price tag.
