Jaquet Droz Date Astrale

Emerged in the 18th century Switzerland, Jaquet-Droz is a well-known watch-making brand dedicated to cultivating the spirit of innovation, reform and excellence. This life-guiding mission started with the brand’s creator, Pierre Jaquet-Droz, a visionary watchmaker who lived in the Age of Enlightenment and remained in the history of the Haute Horology as the creator of astonishing mechanical masterpieces that fascinated kings and emperors, the automata, mechanical dolls, animated by sophisticated mechanisms initially designed to popularize the brand’s timepieces.

Jaquet-Droz is a brand internationally known for creating artifacts of immeasurable value and timeless refinement and elegance but also for paying special attention to the eternally fascinating feminine universe. Jaquet Droz’ new superb addition to its emblematic Hommage Paris 1785 Collection, the new Date Astrale Watch proves once more the mastery of the brand’s designers who have created a very sophisticated wristwatch for romantic yet contemporary women, defined by powerful feminine exuberance and ultimate mechanical sophistication.

Inspired by its long heritage of encoding rich aesthetic symbolism and producing the ultimate expression of horological artisanship, Jaquet Droz combines the distinguished elegance that only has grown with the centuries with a powerful ultra-modern design, which hints to the innovative nature of the mechanism that animates the timepiece.

The new Jaquet Droz Date Astrale watch is a remarkable combination of the brand’s outstanding watch-making complications and the jeweler’s mastery; it features a round case, slightly oversized for a lady’s watch, that measures 39 mm in diameter, and it is wonderfully sculpted in 18 karat whit gold. Moreover, the case’s lugs and bezel feature superb diamond embellishments.

The timepiece is available in two variations – with white mother-of-pearl dial or black opaline dial, but both of them feature off-centered time display, hours and minutes counter and an original semi-circular long date aperture. The white dial is fitted with black contrasting Roman numeral hour markers, and majestically completed by blued steel hour and minute hands; meanwhile the mysterious black variation is fitted with white Roman numerals and white gold hands. The timepiece brings a revolutionary approach to one of the ubiquitous horological complications: the date – that, in the hands of Jaquet Droz’s skilled designers, acquires a brand new dimension defined by sheer extravagant beauty. A diamond travels through the semi-circular window advancing in precise increments daily, on a shooting star-like path, until it reaches the end of the month when it instantly jumps back to the initial position- “1”, ready to start again its journey.

The timepiece accommodates a beautifully decorated Jaquet Droz 2650R self-winding movement that ensures a 68 hours power reserve and can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back. Moreover, the timepiece can withstand up to 30 meters beneath the sea surface and it was manufactured in just eight luxurious collectable items of unmatched distinction, surely we needn’t mention the extremely exclusive price tag.
