Jaquet Droz Rouge and Noir Models

Jaquet-Droz is one of the most renowned members of the elitist world of the Haute Horology, which traces its roots back to the Age of Enlightenment, when a visionary spirit, Pierre Jaquet-Droz, started a long heirloom of master watchmakers dedicated to creating genuine masterpieces of watch-making mastery especially designed for the kings and emperors of the time. Nevertheless, the brand also produced astonishing mechanical wonders that now belong to the cultural patrimony of the world, the fascinating automata, mechanical dolls, animated by sophisticated mechanisms initially designed to popularize the brand’s timepieces.

A brand that, through the centuries, remained fateful to its life-guiding principles and its mission of cultivating the spirit of innovation, reform and excellence, Jaquet Droz targets above all the impassionate collectors’ audience, releasing extremely limited editions of sublime watches defined by immeasurable value and timeless distinction.

At Baselworld 2009, the brand introduced another sophisticated edition, limited to just 88 timepieces, the Rouge and Noire Line, which passionately combines three powerfully contrasting colors and high-tech materials in order to confer the most impressive wristwatch for the charismatic gentleman of the 21st century. The watches majestically combine the Grand Feu absolute black enameled dial, with the precious glow of the red gold of the case and the matt black of the comfortable strap rubber or sleek black of the alligator leather straps.

The first model of the line is the Grande Seconde SW Rouge, a remarkable mixture of unmatched functionality and seductive aesthetics, based on a spectacular contrast between red and black, between the thrilling sporty appeal and the exciting Jaquet Droz exuberance. The timepiece features a masculine 18-karat red gold case, measuring 45 mm in diameter and an eye-catching three-dimensional ring, manufactured from the same precious material, its sporty line surrounds the two dials of the timepiece. The overall design of the timepiece is bold and extremely stylish, and a connoisseur’s eye can discover an infinite attention lavished on the purity of every detail. At the heart of this remarkable watch beats the self-winding 2663 caliber that confers the advantage of 68 hours power reserve.

The second member of the Rouge and Noire Collection is the gorgeous The Les Douze Villes especially created for a man who enjoys travelling and crossing from a time zone to another; it majestically displays, on the rich black of the Grand Feu enameled dial the time in twelve cities, whiten just a few square centimeters. The timepiece features two apertures: the first one positioned at 12 o’clock, displays the local time zone, while the second aperture, located at 6 o’clock indicates the time in a selected city. The timepiece also reveals a jumping hours complication, and it also features an individualizing red gold minutes hand. Inside the stylish 43 mm red gold case of this model, beats the high precision JD5153 caliber, wonderfully adorned and which can be admired, by a connoisseur’s eye, through a sapphire crystal case-back.

The last member of this remarkable collection, the sophisticated Chronographe a Rattrapante Watch is a true piece of horological art especially created by the brand’s skilled engineering team for the iconic Hommage La Chaux-de-Fonds 1738 Collection. The distinguished timepiece demonstrates a deep black Grand Feu enameled dial that emphasizes the silhouette of its red gold hands
