Corum Admiral’s Cup GMT 44

Corum is a relatively young watch-making brand, emerged in 1955, Switzerland, that earned a well-established place among the most prestigious members of the Haut Horology, due to its forward thinking and highly innovative approach to traditional watch making. In its rather short existence, Corum always strived to provide immaculate timekeeping accuracy, and for this brand, every new model has been just another exciting challenge and a mysterious journey towards achieving the perfect expression of horological artisanship.

Known among the impassionate watch-connoisseurs for its exquisite timepieces that bear the brand’s logo, an upright key, which is now associated with the brand’s audacious creativity, immaculate quality and workmanship, Corum never ceased to impress through a fresh, youthful dynamism and remarkable originality.

Recently, the brand brought another significant addition to its legendary Admiral’s Cup collection, launched in 1960s, a beautiful new timepiece that draws its inspiration in the fascinating world of nautical sports, the chic, Corum Admiral’s Cup GMT 44, first presented at Baselworld 2009.

The watch, intended to be a base for future models, is an ingenious combination of masculine sporty charm and sophisticated elegant design, especially created for the fashionable city dwellers of the 21st century. Although it retains the nautical theme of the Admiral’s Cup collection, GMT 44 is defined by softer angles and it represents a fresh innovative approach to the brand’s 12-angled signature case, which got thinner and more elegant. The timepiece is available fitted with a solid screw-down case-back, engraved with Admiral’s Cup trophy or with sapphire crystal case-back.

The watch’s case is available in 18-karat red gold, stainless steel and stainless steel combined with red gold variations and it demonstrates an eye-pleasing combination of brushed and polished surfaces. The steel, as well as the steel and red gold model boast 100 meters water resistance, while the red gold model can withstand down to only 50 meters under the sea surface.

The stylish Corum Admiral’s Cup GMT 44 features a pure elegant dial, available either in white or black fitted with a date aperture located at 3 o’clock position. The dial’s rim is fitted with the second-time-zone indexes, which are indicated by a distinctive red hour hand. The timepiece also features the line’s emblematic nautical pennants but they have been miniaturized.

At the heart of this sophisticated timepiece beats a high-end finished mechanical self-winding CO383 movement, which insures a respectable 42-hours power reserve. The timepiece comes coupled with an elegant crocodile leather strap or optionally a stylish bracelet that matches the material of the case. A beautiful modern timepiece, the new Corum Admiral’s Cup GMT 44 was manufactured in a limited edition of about 1,000 timepieces and it will be available for an approximate price tag of $4,800.00.
